Concept study · Carefree
The Carefree Desert
House
Cabinetry and stone made to sit quietly beside the desert beyond.
Concept transformation
A clearer way
to live.
Drag across the join to compare the reference condition with the proposed direction.
The brief
“Strong light and long views made every finish choice visible, while the existing cabinetry cut the kitchen off from its landscape.”
The design direction
“The concept reduces visual noise, uses a low-sheen material palette, and frames the horizon from both prep and dining zones.”
Material direction
Built from
the right details.
A dry, sun-softened cabinet finish.
Natural movement with a quiet colour range.
A small warmth at touchpoints.
Depth and ventilation at tall storage.
